Rooted in a childhood memory, this work captures a quiet afternoon in our Nigerian parlor, gathered around a SHARP CRT television—a scene once common, now sacred. The masked central figure, a recurring symbol in my work, stands as both witness and memory, bridging personal history and collective nostalgia. Every object—Òlúnma with her doll, the loose cable, my mother’s portrait—holds meaning, echoing themes of memory, loss, family, and cultural communion.
